The boy, according to various sources, was riding his bicycle across the roadway on the intersection of El Granito Street and School Avenue. Traveling south on El Granito Street, an SUV failed to stop when the eight-year-old boy on his bicycle crossed the street in front it. The SUV hit the boy then crushed him and the bike.

Allegedly sans helmet, the boy took a great blow to his head resulting in major injuries and pools of blood on the road. When authorities and paramedics arrived minutes after the incident at about 8:00 p.m. the boy was lying on the road in pain. Blood covered his hair and face. His leg was in pain, it was injured in the accident too.

Airlifted via helicopter, the boy was transported to Fresno Regional Medical Center. A place equipped to handle emergency trauma cases was the closest medical center to treat the boy’s severe injuries.

The identity and name of the person who was driving the SUV is being withheld by authorities. The driver of the SUV was uninjured in the accident. Per police reports, the driver did not appear to be intoxicated nor under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident – which remains under investigation.

Fresno Regional Medical Center physicians and staff managed to successfully bring the 8-year-old-boy to a stable condition. He is now on stable road to recovery. His family is glad that he is in better condition.
